UNIX Manager - Mississauga
Fusepoint is currently searching for a Manager for the Unix team in our Mississauga office. The Unix team is part of a 3-tier technology-based national Operations team that works to support Fusepoint's customers and internal users. The goal of the Operations team is to ensure services are available on a 24x7 basis with minimal interruptions to service. Proven management of people and processes, strong customer service and communication, and an in-depth knowledge of a variety of Unix platforms (with primary concentration on Solaris, RHEL) are essential skills for this role. Familiarity with ITIL and its processes will be considered a definite asset. This position is an escalation point for Unix Engineers and flexibility to perform occasional work after hours or be part of the on-call rotation is required.
Responsibilities:
• Regular monitoring of open tickets to ensure overall SLA’s are met
• Work with the Senior Manager, Technical Services to set and evaluate objectives for Unix team
• Act as escalation point for 3rd level Engineers who are providing support for customers and internal Unix infrastructure
• Involved in hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance, deployment of customer solutions, installations and updates
• Respond to customer and internal requests; involvement in conference calls with Client Experience Team, Project Management and
Implementation Teams, etc, as required
Required Skills:
• 10 years of progressive experience in the industry with at least 6 supporting Unix and Linux environments; previous Supervisory or
Team Lead experience an asset
• In-depth knowledge of infrastructure applications
• In-depth knowledge of VMware
• Familiarity with Opsware (data centre automation tool) would be an asset
• Excellent communication, organization skills
• Strong grasp of Unix security; Knowledge of data security standards, security principles and various network technologies
• Networking knowledge on a level of CCNA/CCNP with understanding of how different network devices (such as routers, switches, firewalls,
load-balancing) can be used to create end-to-end infrastructure.
• Multitasking – be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and provide ongoing support for designed/implemented solutions.
• Certifications in Linux/Unix, such as RHCT, RHCA, SCNA, SCSA are an asset.
• Willingness to be available to the Unix team on evenings, weekends and holidays
