Microsoft Engineer

Fusepoint, a SAVVIS company, is looking for a Contractor Microsoft Engineer to join the team for a 6 month period. There is the potential this role will go full time or contract duration may be extended. The MS Engineer is an exciting technical role in a dynamic team, in which you will work with cutting edge technology among highly skilled technical professionals. The role requires applying industry knowledge to everyday technical problem resolution in a multiplatform environment. The MS Engineer is the 2nd level technical support in the Operations division. The MSE is required to address escalated customer (internal and external) requests as well as involvement in installation of servers, networking, Internet and security services to support our co-location and managed services customers. This role will be an immediate point of escalation for the Operations Centre Technicians for further troubleshooting requirements, as well as mentoring the OC (Operations Centre) for Microsoft issues. Flexibility to perform work after hours and on-call duty is required. Strong experience in the industry, in data centres and current certifications are essential to be successful in the Operations team.

Responsibilities:
• Providing 2nd level support to resolve problems on internal and customer systems including on-call support as required.
• Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, applications, services, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and
  project/operational requirements.
• Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
• Install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches and resolve software related problems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues according to the level of contractual services, proactively involve other internal members to
  resolve customer issues.
• Develop and maintain documentation including Operations Manual, procedures, and online customer information.
• Additional projects as required.

Required Skills:
• Networking and internet technology knowledge
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with Windows 2003, Active Directory, IIS 6.0, SQL 2005
• Knowledge and experience with SharePoint and/or Exchange an asset
• Knowledge and experience with virtualization technologies an asset (VMWare, Virtual Server, Hyper-V)
• Knowledge and experience with Citrix an asset
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to learn and apply new skills rapidly
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Confidence in your own abilities and a willingness to make decisions and escalate when necessary.
• Must have an interest in emerging technologies.

• IT Diploma from recognized technical institution or equivalent work experience.
