Bilingual Operations Centre (OC) Technician - Montreal
The OC technician is an extension of our Operations Centre. The primary responsibility of this position will be to provide service in our Montreal data centre. This includes work assigned from engineers, project managers, and alerts from monitoring. Additional responsibilities include hardware and software installations, hardware replacement; data centre shipping & receiving, inventory control, customer installations and other duties as required.
Responsibilities:
• Work with the OC techs and Level 3 engineers to perform customer and internal installations including server racking, network
setup and application configuration
• Support of our product lines including: Backup, Security, Operating Systems
• Work with engineering & support staff on system O/S and application installation & configuration
• Data center shipping/receiving and inventory control, space management
• Develop and maintain support documentation including support guides
• Use of knowledgebase articles, procedures, and online customer information
• On-call 24x7 to provide emergency remote hands and scheduled maintenance windows, client escorts
• Data centre work including hardware and cable installation and troubleshooting, remote hands for customers and professional services
• Interface between customers/engineers, vendors and ISP’s
• Report any facility, security and landlord items to National Facilities Director
• Facilitate DC Security. Ie. setup, activation and disabling of accounts for biometric system
Required Skills:
• Experience in a multi-platform server and networking environment
• English and French communication skills
• Ability to learn and apply new skills rapidly
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Confidence in your own abilities and a willingness to make decisions and escalate when necessary.
• Must have an interest in emerging technologies.
• Flexible time requirement with 24x7 on-call with pager
• Ability to commute within the greater Montreal area, including Nun’s Island
Required Education:
• IT Diploma from recognized technical institution.
• Certifications are an asset – A+, CCNA/CCNP, MCP/MCSA/MCSE, LCP/RHCE etc.
• Training and/or experience with any of the following: Windows Server, IIS/SQL, Solaris, Linux, Cisco IOS are strong assets
